Could shorter feeding windows help ICU patients recover faster?
NCT ID NCT07270939
First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving tube-fed ICU patients a break from feeding (4 or 6 hours daily) helps them leave the ICU sooner and have fewer infections compared to continuous 24-hour feeding. About 150 critically ill adults on ventilators will be randomly assigned to one of three feeding schedules. Researchers will track length of ICU stay, pneumonia rates, blood sugar control, and how well patients tolerate the feedings.
