Can simple checklists curb opioid misuse? new study tests doctor-friendly guides
NCT ID NCT05182606
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tested whether doctors in primary care clinics would use simple decision guides (algorithms) to help patients with chronic pain who misuse opioids. 49 clinicians participated over 6-9 months. The goal was to see if the guides were easy to use and acceptable, not to directly treat patients. Results will inform future efforts to reduce opioid-related harms.
