New anesthesia method aims to cut opioid use after major surgery
NCT ID NCT07364864
Summary
This study is comparing two types of anesthesia for people having major pancreatic surgery. One group will receive standard anesthesia that includes opioid painkillers, while the other will receive a special 'opioid-free' anesthesia that uses a mix of other pain-relief drugs and techniques. The main goal is to see if the opioid-free method can reduce patients' need for strong opioid painkillers after surgery by 30%, while still managing their pain effectively and potentially reducing side effects like nausea.
