Surgery without opioids: new approach aims to cut painkiller use after major operations

NCT ID NCT07364864

Summary

This study compares two anesthesia methods for people having major pancreatic surgery. Researchers want to see if using anesthesia without opioids (strong painkillers) works as well as standard anesthesia that includes opioids. They'll measure pain levels and how much opioid medication patients need after surgery, hoping the opioid-free method reduces opioid use by 30% and leads to fewer side effects like nausea.
