Gentle touch may boost cancer staining during breast surgery
NCT ID NCT07269860
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) to standard breast massage helps more blue dye and radioactive tracer reach the lymph nodes during breast cancer surgery. 27 women having breast-conserving surgery and sentinel lymph node biopsy took part. Researchers compared standard massage alone to massage plus OMM techniques like opening the chest inlet and pumping the armpit area. The goal was to see if OMM improves lymph node detection for cancer staging.
