Could fish oil and sunshine vitamin slow down type 1 diabetes?

NCT ID NCT03406897

Summary

This small, early-stage study tested whether taking high doses of omega-3 fatty acids (like those in fish oil) and vitamin D could help people with type 1 diabetes. Researchers wanted to see if this combination was safe and if it could help the body preserve its own ability to make some insulin, potentially reducing the amount of insulin injections needed. The study included 27 people, from children to adults, who had been recently diagnosed or had type 1 diabetes for up to 10 years.
