First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looked at whether taking omega-3 fatty acid supplements can help keep the small blood vessels in the eyes healthy for adults with type 1 diabetes. A total of 82 participants took daily omega-3 supplements and had regular eye exams to check for changes. The goal was to see if the supplements could slow or prevent early signs of diabetic retinopathy, a common eye complication.
