Summary

This early-phase trial tested an investigational eye injection called OLN324 in 164 adults with either wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) or diabetic macular edema (DME). The main goal was to check safety and how the drug moves in the body, with a preliminary look at whether it might improve vision. Participants received either OLN324 or an existing treatment (faricimab) to compare results.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
OLN324 (eye injection)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a new treatment option for wet AMD and diabetic macular edema, potentially reducing the need for frequent eye injections.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 1b trial focused on safety, so it is too soon to know if OLN324 works. The drug may not prove effective or could cause unexpected side effects.
