New shortcut could cut cancer radiation planning from weeks to same day

NCT ID NCT07079098

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study is for people whose cancer has spread to up to 5 spots (oligometastatic) and who need stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). Normally, planning SBRT takes a week or more because a special CT scan is needed. This study tests whether using the scans patients already had (like CT, MRI, or PET) can safely skip that step and allow treatment to start right away. The goal is to see if this faster approach is safe and works well for treating these cancer spots.
