Childhood obesity and early puberty: What's the link?

NCT ID NCT07437976

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study follows 400 children ages 5 to 7, some with obesity and some of normal weight, to see what factors like genes, hormones, diet, and chemical exposures affect when puberty starts. Children will have check-ups every 6 months until age 12, including blood tests, physical exams, and wearing a wristband to measure chemical exposure. The goal is to understand why children with obesity often start puberty earlier, but no treatment or intervention is given.
