Summary

This completed study looked at how well healthy adults tolerate different doses of an oat fiber supplement called BG-OS. Sixty participants took either 5, 10, or 20 grams daily for several weeks. Researchers tracked digestive symptoms, blood sugar levels after eating white rice, and collected stool and blood samples. The goal was to see if the fiber is easy on the stomach and if it helps control blood sugar spikes.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Oat fiber (BG-OS)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple dietary supplement that supports digestive health and helps manage blood sugar spikes after meals.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study in healthy people, so results may not apply to those with health conditions. The main focus is on tolerability, not proven health benefits.
