Could a mushroom compound turn back the clock on aging?
NCT ID NCT07750002
First seen Aug 06, 2026 · Last updated Aug 07, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether a daily supplement called NVTIA® ergothioneine can improve markers of healthy aging and skin health in healthy adults aged 35 to 55. Over 12 weeks, half the participants will take the supplement and half will take a placebo, with neither group knowing which they receive. Researchers will measure oxidative stress, skin elasticity, hydration, and inflammation to see if the supplement offers any benefits.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- NVTIA® ergothioneine, a branded dietary supplement
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this supplement could offer a simple way to support healthy aging and skin health in middle-aged adults.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial, so results may not apply broadly. The supplement may not produce meaningful changes, and any benefits could be modest.
