New device aims to tame chronic pain and 'Fight-or-Flight' misfires

NCT ID NCT07409363

First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This small pilot study tests a non-invasive device that stimulates the vagus nerve (a key nerve connecting the brain and body) to see if it can reduce symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, and gut issues in people with long-term muscle or joint pain. Twelve adults with chronic pain and confirmed autonomic dysfunction will use the device or a sham version for two weeks each. The goal is to check if this approach is feasible and worth testing in a larger trial.
