Summary

This completed study looked at the energy needs and nutritional health of 60 adolescent girls aged 10-19 in rural Abia State, Nigeria. Researchers measured how many calories the girls burned each day using a special water test, tracked their physical activity with wrist monitors, and recorded what they ate using a phone app. The goal was to better understand the nutritional challenges these girls face.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this study could help design better nutrition programs for adolescent girls in rural Nigeria.
What could go wrong
This is a small observational study with only 60 participants, so findings may not apply to all girls in Nigeria or other regions.
