NCT ID NCT05040386

First seen Nov 11, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested a telephone-based nurse coaching program for older adults (age 60+) with moderate to very severe COPD and their care partners. The program, called EPIC, provided six sessions for patients and four for care partners, focusing on palliative care and quality of life. Researchers measured how feasible and acceptable the program was, as well as its effects on mobility, cognitive function, and caregiver burden. The goal was to see if early, proactive support could help patients and families manage COPD better before end-of-life care is needed.
