Nurse calls boost diabetes control in teens
NCT ID NCT00308256
First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested whether regular phone calls and monthly visits with a nurse could help teenagers with type 1 diabetes feel more in control and improve their blood sugar levels. 77 teens aged 13-18 with poorly controlled diabetes took part. The nurse counseling group received extra support, while the other group continued usual care. The goal was to see if this extra attention improved how well teens coped with their diabetes and lowered their HbA1c (a key blood sugar measure).
