Kidney patients at risk? study probes nortriptyline dangers in seniors

NCT ID NCT07527481

First seen Apr 26, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looked at 5,000 older adults (66+) with low kidney function who started taking nortriptyline, a common antidepressant. Researchers compared those on higher doses (over 10 mg/day) to those on a low dose (10 mg/day) to see if they had more emergency visits, hospital stays, or deaths within 30 days. The goal was to understand risks, not to test a new treatment.
