New thyroid drug shows promise in phase 2 trial

Summary

This study tested a new hormone replacement therapy called North Star against the standard drug levothyroxine for people with an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). 303 adults who were already stable on levothyroxine took part to see if North Star could control their thyroid hormone levels just as well. The goal was to find the right dose of North Star to keep thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) in the normal range.
