Does feeling stigmatized worsen life quality for men with low testosterone?
NCT ID NCT07752511
First seen Aug 07, 2026 · Last updated Aug 07, 2026
Summary
This study looks at how anticipated stigma and illness identity affect quality of life in men with hypogonadism (low testosterone). It compares these men to those with other chronic endocrine conditions like diabetes, hypothyroidism, or hypertension. The goal is to see if these psychological factors predict worse quality of life specifically in the hypogonadism group. Participants will complete questionnaires measuring stigma, illness perception, symptoms, and anxiety/depression.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If this study succeeds, it could highlight how stigma and self-perception affect quality of life in men with hypogonadism, potentially guiding better psychological support and patient-centered care.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study with a relatively small sample size, so findings may not apply broadly. It does not test any treatment, so it cannot directly improve outcomes.

Who is studied
Male patients aged 18 years and older who are routinely followed up at the endocrinology outpatient clinic of Malatya Training and Research Hospital. The population comprises two distinct subgroups: men with a biochemically confirmed diagnosis of hypogonadism and age-matched men diagnosed with other chronic endocrine or metabolic conditions (diabetes mellitus, hypertension, or hypothyroidism) without hypogonadism.
