New gum surgery could spare patients a second surgical site

NCT ID NCT05844254

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests a new surgical technique called the NORD flap against the standard connective tissue graft for treating receding gums. The goal is to see if the new method covers exposed tooth roots just as well, but with less pain and fewer complications since it avoids a second surgical site. Sixty adults with early-stage gum recession will be followed for 15 months to compare results.
