Brain zaps could ease wrist pain without surgery

NCT ID NCT04206215

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether a gentle brain stimulation technique (tDCS combined with ultrasound) can reduce chronic pain in people with carpal tunnel syndrome. Researchers will compare active stimulation to a sham (fake) treatment in 95 adults aged 18–80 who have had pain for at least 6 months. The goal is to see if this noninvasive approach can offer a new way to manage pain without drugs or surgery.
