New imaging tech could spare kidney patients from painful biopsies

NCT ID NCT06472947

First seen Mar 05, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests two new imaging methods—ultrasound localization microscopy and multispectral optoacoustic tomography—to check the health of kidney transplants without needing a biopsy. Ten adult kidney transplant patients who already need a biopsy will be scanned to see if these techniques can provide similar information. If successful, this could reduce the need for invasive procedures in the future.
