Breathing machine showdown: which device keeps COPD-sleep apnea patients out of the hospital?
NCT ID NCT07047092
First seen Jun 02, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looks at 386 adults with both COPD and sleep apnea who recently had a life-threatening breathing crisis. Researchers want to see if using a non-invasive ventilator (NIV) at home works better than a CPAP machine to prevent future severe COPD flare-ups or death over one year. Participants will use one of the two devices at night, and the study tracks hospital readmissions and survival.
