First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tested whether self-administered nitrous oxide (laughing gas) can reduce pain and anxiety during a urodynamic study (UDS), a test for urinary symptoms. Nineteen adults scheduled for UDS received low-dose nitrous oxide during the procedure. Researchers measured bladder capacity and pain levels to see if the gas affected results or improved comfort.
