Laughing gas may ease bladder test anxiety

NCT ID NCT05883332

First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving low-dose nitrous oxide (laughing gas) during a urodynamic study (a test for urinary symptoms) changes the test results. 19 adults scheduled for the test took part. The goal was to see if the gas could reduce pain and anxiety without affecting important measurements like bladder capacity. If it works, it could offer a simple way to make the procedure more comfortable.
