First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tests whether spraying nitroglycerin directly into the bile duct during an ERCP procedure can prevent pancreatitis, a common and serious complication. About 440 adults who need a stone removed from their bile duct will take part. Half will get the nitroglycerin spray during the procedure, and half will get a placebo, to see if the spray lowers the chance of developing pancreatitis afterward.
