Beetroot boost? study tests nitrate to supercharge exercise in seniors
NCT ID NCT07572266
First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 26, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looks at whether taking a nitrate supplement (like beetroot juice) can help older adults get more health benefits from exercise. Researchers will have 226 people aged 60 and older do a mix of endurance and strength training for 12 weeks. Half will also take the supplement to see if it improves heart fitness and muscle quality more than exercise alone.
