Summary
This study tested whether nifuroxazide, a gut antibiotic, can help reverse confusion caused by liver disease (hepatic encephalopathy) in 80 adults with cirrhosis. Participants had moderate to severe confusion and were treated to see if their mental status improved. The goal was to safely reduce hospital stays and avoid intensive care.
