Space-Age supplement study: can Vitamin-Like pill shield astronauts from painkiller harm?

NCT ID NCT06214468

First seen Apr 12, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tested whether a dietary supplement called nicotinamide riboside (NR) can reduce the toxic effects of acetaminophen (like Tylenol). Researchers measured chemicals in the blood and urine of 26 healthy adults after taking acetaminophen alone and with NR. They also simulated space conditions to see if the risk changes. The goal was to understand how acetaminophen affects the body and if NR can help protect against damage.
