Kids' acid reflux drug trial seeks to keep stomach lining healed

Summary

This study is testing if Nexium (esomeprazole) can safely keep erosive esophagitis healed in children aged 1 to 11. Erosive esophagitis is damage to the food pipe caused by stomach acid. Researchers will compare two doses of the medication over 16 weeks to see which works better at preventing the damage from returning.
