Summary
This study tested new patterns of deep brain stimulation (DBS) for people with Parkinson's disease. Researchers wanted to see if delivering stimulation in short, timed bursts could control movement symptoms as well as the current standard of constant stimulation, but with less impact on memory and thinking. They studied 16 people who were already scheduled for standard DBS surgery, measuring their movement and cognitive performance under different stimulation settings.
