NCT ID NCT03243539
First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a computer program can help doctors set breathing machines (ventilators) in a way that protects both the lungs and the brain. About 728 adults with serious brain injuries from strokes, bleeding, or trauma took part. The goal was to see if the program could keep carbon dioxide levels normal while using lower, safer air volumes to avoid extra lung damage.
