New study tests nerve blocks for Hard-to-Treat stroke pain

NCT ID NCT06446960

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether numbing a nerve in the arm or leg can reduce the burning or aching pain that some people feel after a stroke. About 36 adults who have had a stroke at least 6 months ago and have had pain for at least 6 months will receive two injections (either a numbing medicine or a saltwater placebo) two weeks apart. The goal is to see if the nerve blocks provide short-term pain relief.
