Neck surgery patients may skip opioids with simple nerve block

NCT ID NCT06570577

First seen May 04, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests whether a nerve block can help people who have neck surgery use fewer opioid painkillers and feel less pain. About 60 adults having posterior cervical spine surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either the nerve block plus standard pain medication or standard medication alone. Researchers will compare opioid use, pain scores, and how quickly patients can leave the hospital.
