First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tested whether a specific ultrasound-guided nerve block (external oblique intercostal plane block) could provide better pain relief after kidney surgery compared to standard morphine. Twenty-five adults undergoing subcostal nephrectomy were randomly assigned to receive either the nerve block or morphine on request. The main goal was to see how long it took before patients needed additional pain medicine.
