First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tested two types of nerve blocks to control pain after breast cancer surgery (modified radical mastectomy). 64 women received either a pectoral nerve block or a serratus anterior plane block. The serratus block provided better pain relief for the first 6 hours, delayed the need for extra pain medicine, and caused fewer side effects like nausea.
