New combo therapy before surgery aims to boost stomach cancer outcomes

Summary
This early-phase trial tests a new combination of the immunotherapy drug tislelizumab plus standard chemotherapy (FLOT) given before surgery for patients with resectable stomach, esophageal, or gastroesophageal junction cancer. The goal is to see if this approach is safe and effective enough to warrant larger studies. About 18 adults with locally advanced but removable tumors will receive up to 8 cycles of the combo before surgery, instead of the usual 4 cycles before and 4 after.
