What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Sacituzumab govitecan (a drug that targets cancer cells) and pembrolizumab (an immunotherapy drug)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a new treatment option before surgery for triple-negative breast cancer, potentially improving the chance of eliminating all cancer cells.
What could go wrong
This is a phase 2 trial, so it is still early. The drug combination may not work better than current treatments, and side effects like nausea, fatigue, or immune-related reactions are possible.
