What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
NBM-BMX (a capsule that blocks a protein called HDAC8, which may help slow cancer growth)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new treatment option for people with metastatic uveal melanoma, a rare and hard-to-treat eye cancer.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial with only 36 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug may cause side effects or fail to shrink tumors.
