Sniffing away eye damage: new nasal spray trial offers hope for diabetics

Summary
This early-stage study is testing whether a medicine called octreotide, delivered as a nasal spray, can safely reduce swelling in the back of the eye (macular edema) caused by diabetes. It is for people whose eye swelling hasn't improved enough with the standard treatment of injections into the eye. Researchers will measure changes in eye thickness and vision to see if the nasal spray helps.
