Sticky solution: new mucus test could personalize nasal polyp care

NCT ID NCT07524127

First seen Apr 16, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looks at whether measuring the thickness (viscosity) of nasal mucus can help doctors better understand the type of inflammation in people with chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps. Researchers will compare mucus samples from 60 patients having sinus surgery—some with polyps and some without. The goal is to develop a quick, non-invasive test that could guide personalized treatment decisions, such as choosing the right biologic therapy.
