Sticky mucus may hold key to better nasal polyp care

NCT ID NCT07524127

First seen Apr 16, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at whether measuring the thickness (viscosity) of nasal mucus can help doctors tell apart different types of inflammation in people with chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps. Researchers will compare mucus from 60 patients having sinus surgery—some with polyps, some without. The goal is to develop a quick, non-invasive test that could guide personalized treatment decisions.
