Summary
This large study tested a new approach: using a special light treatment inside the nose just before surgery to kill germs and prevent wound infections. Over 4,700 adults having major surgeries (like heart, spine, or joint replacement) took part. The goal was to see if this simple, quick treatment works better than standard cleaning methods to keep surgical sites infection-free for 30 days after the operation.
