First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This early study tests a new, noninvasive laser treatment called Nano-Pulsed Laser Therapy (NPLT) for people with moderate to severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). The goal is to see if the treatment is safe and can be given soon after injury. Researchers will also check if the laser changes certain brain signals. The study plans to enroll 30 adults in the hospital.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Nano-pulsed laser therapy (NPLT) device

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward a new noninvasive treatment to help brain recovery after traumatic brain injury.

What could go wrong

This is a very early Phase 1 trial with only 30 people, so it is mainly checking safety and feasibility. It may not show clear benefit, and results may not apply to all TBI patients.
