New DNA tech aims to speed up diagnosis of dangerous eye infections
NCT ID NCT05372861
Summary
This small pilot study is testing whether a portable DNA sequencing device can quickly identify the bacteria or fungi causing a severe eye infection called endophthalmitis. Researchers will compare results from this new method against traditional, slower lab cultures using samples from 20 patients. The goal is to see if this technology could one day help doctors diagnose these infections faster, though it won't change patient treatment in this study.
