Daytime exercises may ease sleep apnea without machines
NCT ID NCT04608552
First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested whether orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT) — simple tongue and throat exercises done during the day — can improve breathing during sleep in people with mild-to-moderate obstructive sleep apnea. 209 adults with sleep apnea were assigned to either OMT or a sham exercise group. The goal was to see if OMT could reduce sleep apnea severity and improve daytime function, offering an alternative to nightly CPAP machines.
