First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tests whether playing personalized music through a sound shower can reduce anxiety for family members waiting in an intensive care unit (ICU) waiting room. About 224 adults visiting a loved one who is on a breathing machine will be randomly assigned to a waiting room with or without music. Their anxiety levels will be measured using a standard questionnaire after 20-30 minutes of waiting.
