Music as medicine? trial tests group therapy against yoga for chronic pain
NCT ID NCT07756541
First seen Aug 10, 2026 · Last updated Aug 11, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial explores whether a patient-centered group music therapy program can help adults with chronic pain. It compares the music therapy approach to a yoga program, measuring how well participants stick with the sessions and use the techniques at home. The goal is to see if this type of music therapy is a feasible and acceptable option for pain management.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Group music therapy sessions
- What this could lead to
- If effective, group music therapy could offer a non-drug, patient-centered option for managing chronic pain, potentially improving quality of life.
- What could go wrong
- This is a feasibility trial, so it focuses on whether the program is practical and acceptable, not on proving pain relief. Results may not show clear benefits, and individual responses to music therapy can vary.
