NCT ID NCT05589220
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding music therapy to nicotine patches and gum can reduce tobacco cravings in student smokers aged 18-25. 120 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either nicotine replacement alone or nicotine replacement plus a digital music therapy tool. The goal is to see if music therapy makes it easier to manage cravings and quit smoking.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Music therapy (digital tool) plus nicotine patch and gum
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a simple, low-cost way to help young smokers manage cravings and quit more successfully.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small pilot study, so results may not be conclusive. The music therapy tool is digital and untested in this context, and the study only includes students, so findings may not apply to other groups.
