Lullaby pacifier aims to help tiniest babies feed and go home sooner

NCT ID NCT05446389

Summary

This study tested whether a special pacifier that plays music when a baby sucks on it could help premature infants with serious breathing problems learn to feed by mouth. Very premature babies who needed breathing support were randomly assigned to either use this musical pacifier during tube feedings or receive standard care. Researchers wanted to see if the music therapy helped babies transition to bottle or breast feeding faster and potentially shorten their hospital stay.
